Patients with recently diagnosed melanoma are initially assessed and managed by surgeons. Consultation with other members of the Melanoma Unit will be arranged by the surgical staff or, if appropriate, directly by the referring doctor.

All new patients require a referral letter from their General Practitioner or referring Specialist, this provides important clinical information. Clinicians at the Melanoma Unit are individual specialists, and invoices will be issued at the time of consultation. The Melanoma Unit is a private facility but all clinicians also work in public hospitals.

The Melanoma Unit offers appointments for melanoma patients regarding treatments, surgery and melanoma follow up reviews. Patients who are not diagnosed with melanoma, but are seeking to have their skin and moles checked, should see their General Practitioner or Skin Specialist for assessment.
